TPFC 1 - 6 THCC FC, League, 13th Sept 2008
Starting line-up: Danny Fitz (GK), Jermaine Belle (LB), Luke Hastings (CB), Michael Penman (CB), Tim White (RB), Lee Thomson (LW), Luke Bingham (CM), Oli Taylor (CM), Scott Barnard (RW), Jonny Pilkington (ST), Jimmy Nimmo (ST) Bench: Luke Williams, Matt Taylor, Stephen Bingham
Intro: Eager to bounce back from defeat on the opening day of the season, THCC FC started well and after a period of good pressure were rewarded when a first time low cross from Jimmy found Jonny free in the middle and although his first shot was save, he was alert and agile enough to place the rebound back past the keeper to put us one up! Despite dominating most of the half, a lapse in concentration in from the Tower defenders let Tollington Park back into the game after a slide rule pass sent their striker (who did look suspiciously offside) through one on one to cooly finish and level the scores. Tower regrouped and began to impose themselves once again, finally getting a second goal when a well directed corner kick found Tim White unmarked. Tim cooly sent a looping header over the keeper and into the net.
HT (1 - 2): TPFC introduced more attackers to the game in the second half but the Tower defenders held firm and the Tower midfielders and attackers went one better. TPFC had pushed forward in order to get back into the game, however, this exposed them to the pacey counter attacks that THCC FC are fast becoming known for! Two close range goals came from Jimmy Nimmo, one set up by a Paul Robinson sized kick from Danny Fitz and the other when he bravely challenged the keeper and managed to deflect the ball in with his back. Lee Thomson saw a lot of the ball and also got a brace, one close range header from Luke Hasting rocket launched throw in and a powerful penalty that he took after being brought down on his route to goal. All in all a well earned win and the first points on the board.
BIG THANKS TO THOSE WHO CAME TO SUPPORT: Dave P, Eddie Stride, Alistair Nimmo
